Just realized my old 2008 iPod Nano with wired earbuds beats my phone for the gym, and it took me a month to admit it
I dug out an old iPod Nano from a drawer back in March, the little square one from 2008 with the click wheel and maybe 8 GB of space. For the first two weeks I kept using my phone because it was already in my pocket and the streaming app had every song I wanted. Then the ads started stacking up, and every time a call came in my music cut out, and the thing slid off the bench and cracked the screen protector twice. So I switched to the Nano for a full month to give it a fair shake, and it just worked. No notifications, no buzzing, no battery dying halfway through a workout, and I only had to charge it maybe once a week. The wired earbuds never fell out and never needed pairing, which sounds small until you're mid set with sweat in your eyes. The funny part is I paid 40 dollars for the Nano and 12 for the earbuds, and they still beat a 900 dollar phone for this one job. Has anyone else gone back to a single purpose gadget like this, or am I just getting old?
