I finally met the guy who sold me my $8 thrift store synthesizer
Back in March I picked up this beat up Yamaha PSS-470 at a Goodwill in Dayton for 8 bucks. It had some dead keys and weird static but I loved the lo-fi sounds for recording. Last week I posted a video of it on a local swap group and this older man commented saying he recognized it as his old keyboard from the 80s. We met up at a coffee shop and he showed me photos of him gigging with it in college. He told me his mom bought it for him at a pawn shop and he practically lived on it for three years. He asked if he could play one song on it before we parted and it totally worked despite the dead keys. I offered to give it back but he laughed and said no, it found the right home. Anyone else ever run into the original owner of a used gadget you own?
