Thought that razor bump cream from the beauty aisle was a gimmick, then a regular proved me wrong
I have been cutting hair at my chair in Portland for 11 years, and I always told guys that bump cream from the drugstore was just lotion with a fancy label. About 6 weeks ago a regular named Marcus came in, he works construction and his neck was torn up after every cut, red bumps everywhere. He pulled a little green tube out of his pocket, said his girlfriend grabbed it for $9, and asked me to try it on the back of his neck after the lineup. I figured whatever, and by the time I finished his fade the redness had calmed down a lot, not gone but way less angry. So I bought a tube for myself, tested it on three clients over the next couple weeks, and every one of them said the irritation was half of what they normally get. I still think 90 percent of the stuff on those shelves is overpriced junk, but this one earned its spot on my station. Now I'm wondering what else I've been writing off too fast, so what is one product you swore was a scam until you actually tried it on a client?
