That fancy clipper oil I bought gummed up my blades in a week

I grabbed some 'premium' clipper oil from a shop in Brooklyn last month, figured it was better than the standard stuff. By day 6 my Andis blades were sticking and making that awful grinding noise, had to stop mid-fade on a regular client. Anyone else have a bottle of oil that did more harm than good?

Wait, was it that blue bottle with the metal cap from that trendy barber supply spot? I snagged the same one thinking I was upgrading, and yeah my blades locked up after like 5 cuts. The oil felt thicker than usual going on but I figured it was fine. Had to soak my clippers in alcohol for an hour to get that sticky residue off, what a waste of money.

Yeah, that blue bottle with the metal cap got me too. I learned the hard way that any oil that looks more like honey than water is usually just cheap mineral oil with a fancy label. Now I stick with the clear stuff from the hardware store, it's literally the same thing as the barber brands but costs a fraction of the price and doesn't gum up.
