Vent: Tried to make my grandmother's apple cake recipe and it turned into a flat disc
I got out her old recipe card last Sunday. The one she wrote in pencil like 40 years ago. I followed everything exactly. 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 3 eggs, but I think my baking powder might be old because the cake barely rose. It came out maybe an inch tall and super dense. My kitchen smelled amazing but it was a total disaster. Has anyone else had a family recipe just completely flop on them? What did you do?
