Serious question, why do so many bakers think you absolutely need a kitchen scale?

I always use measuring cups and my bread comes out perfectly every time.

Yeah, but cups can mess with your ratios without you even noticing. A scale gives you the same amount every time, which is key for tricky doughs.

My grandma baked perfect sourdough for 40 years using just a metal cup she kept by the flour bin. Some of us get good results without turning baking into a science project.

Scales make sure you get the same amount every time. Cups can pack down differently, so your bread might not be as good as it could be. I used cups for years until my doughs got more reliable with a scale.
