My sourdough finally got compliments after my brother told me it was too dense

I had been making sourdough for about 6 months and my brother straight up said 'this loaf is like a brick.' That stung but he was right. So I started weighing my flour and water exactly instead of using cups. Turns out I was adding way too much flour each time. First loaf after that change came out with those nice air pockets. Anyone else have a family member give them a tough truth that actually helped?

Gotta admit I used to roll my eyes at people who preached about weighing ingredients. Thought it was just food snob stuff. But after my sister told me my cookies tasted like drywall, I broke down and got a scale, and wow was she right.

Lol "tasted like drywall" is brutal but fair. I spent years wondering why my bread came out like a brick before I realized measuring cups are just lies.
