Overheard a guy at the bar say 'cloud storage will never catch on, too risky'

Was at a pub in Austin last week and this older dude was going off about how nobody would trust their photos on 'some server somewhere.' He said it like it was 2008 and we were all still using floppy disks. Made me wonder how many other bad predictions from back then we've just forgotten about. Anyone else got a specific old quote like that stuck in your head?

Oh man, the Blockbuster thing kills me. People really thought Netflix was gonna flop because they didn't have candy at the checkout counter. And yeah, the guy at the bar was definitely doing all this on his iPhone while telling me the cloud was a scam. I think he actually had a photo of his grandkids as his lock screen. It's like people who swear Bitcoin is fake money but Venmo their friend for pizza. We all love to call things gimmicks right up until we're using them every single day.

My buddy still brings up this guy he knew in 2010 who swore up and down Netflix would never survive because people liked going to Blockbuster too much. He actually put money on it. I gotta ask though - was the older guy at the bar also the type who thinks the internet is a fad or did he at least admit he was using a smartphone to tell you all this?
