That Google Maps detour in Austin saved me 45 minutes, I owe it an apology
I always thought the reroute feature was just guesswork until last Tuesday when I was stuck on I-35 near downtown. It sent me down some side streets past the University of Texas and I dodged a wreck that had traffic stopped for miles. The app even showed a time comparison after I got back on the highway, 2:10 vs my usual 2:55. Anyone else ever get a genuinely brilliant bad-looking detour that made no sense on paper?
