That $48 GPS unit from a gas station in Flagstaff nearly got me lost in the desert
Picked up one of those off-brand GPS units (never heard of the company, honestly) while passing through Flagstaff and figured it'd be fine for a quick detour off Route 66. The map showed a road that didn't exist past mile marker 14, and I ended up backtracking 9 miles on a washboard track with my van bottoming out the whole way. I get that paper maps are old school, but at least they don't tell you to drive into a dry wash. Anyone else trust a discount nav unit once and regret it, or do you have a weird map fail story from a random roadside buy?
