PSA: That mapping app lied about a cut through road near my farm
My buddy Steve told me to trust the GPS route that goes through old Miller's property. Said it'd save me 20 minutes getting to town. I took that dirt road and ended up stuck in a washed out culvert for 2 hours waiting for a tow. Now I check satellite views before I follow any shortcut maps. Has anyone else had a mapping app send you down a dead end?

My buddy's GPS sent him down what the app called "Mill Creek Pass" near my place. Turns out that pass hasn't been maintained since 2008 and is basically a hiking trail now. He ended up having to back his truck up for almost a mile down this narrow gravel path with drop-offs on both sides. The app still shows it as a real road on the map even after I reported it twice. Steve was cussing up a storm about how "saving 15 minutes" cost him an hour and a new set of brake pads. Now I don't trust any shortcut that cuts through unmarked private property like old man Miller's land (which is exactly where your story took you).

Did your buddy try calling old man Miller for permission or just wing it?
