Just figured out how to spot a lazy world map: count the time zones that run straight through countries
I was poking around a map of Africa last week and something looked off about the borders near Mali and Niger. Turns out the map had drawn time zone lines that sliced right through the middle of like 4 countries instead of following the real edges, and the source was some free wallpaper site from 2009. Counting those straight lines is now my go-to test for spotting a sloppy map. What's your quick trick for telling a good map from a bad one before you even read the labels?
