I carried a 30 pound pack up Mount Marcy and now I tell everyone to go lighter
Three summers ago I hauled a 30 pound pack up Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks and got passed by a 60 year old guy with a 12 pound setup who said 'ounces make pounds and pounds make pain,' so now I tell anyone asking about routes in the High Peaks to cut weight first, and I'm curious if anyone else had a specific moment on trail that flipped how they plan their gear.
