DAE see people planning the High Sierra Trail with like 6 resupply stops when 2 works fine
I was reading trip reports for the High Sierra Trail last week and almost everyone lists resupplies at Bearpaw, Whitney Portal, and sometimes even more, which adds days and packs on weight for food you do not need. I did it with one stop at the Portal in 2022 and my base weight stayed under 14 pounds, so I think a lot of people just copy the same plan without checking the mile markers. Has anyone else noticed this pattern, or am I the only one who thinks the standard advice is overkill for a 72 mile route?
