Warning: I chased a ghost short for 2 days, it was my own test lead
Out at KMRY last week I was chasing an intermittent right main gear indication. Pulled the harness, checked every pin, ohmed out the whole run in the wheel well, and it kept passing. Got so frustrated I left my meter hooked up and walked away for coffee. Came back and saw the reading drop when I bumped the test lead against the probe tip itself, had a broken internal wire in my own Fluke lead the whole time. Replaced the lead, plane tested clean, and I felt like an absolute idiot. Anyone else ever waste a whole shift fighting a faulty meter lead and not the aircraft?
