Cockpit upgrade at O'Hare that taught me a lesson about shortcuts
Back in 2018 I was working on a 737 at O'Hare and the pilot asked me to swap out an old radio stack. I figured I'd just pop the new unit in and go, but the wiring harness had been patched so many times it was a total rats nest. Spent three hours untangling and re-terminating because some guy years ago took the easy way out. Has anyone else run into wiring jobs that made you question the last tech who touched it?

Ha, yeah that's definitely one way to look at it. Maybe he was just trying to give the next customer a little mystery to solve, like a free puzzle with their purchase. Could be worse, I've seen people leave half-eaten sandwiches or empty coffee cups in weird places. Honestly, if he just wanted someone to find it and have a story to tell, that's kind of funny in a weird way.
