Question about ditching my floor jack for a $40 scissor jack on brake jobs
Everyone on here says you need a 3 ton floor jack for everything, but last Saturday I did front pads and rotors on my Civic in my driveway with just the scissor jack from the trunk and one jack stand, and it went fine. Took me about 50 minutes total, no drama, nothing slipped To be fair I chocked the rear wheel and slid the tire under the frame the whole time But people act like a scissor jack will kill you, and honestly for a quick pad swap at stock height it did the job. Is the floor jack thing just habit at this point, or am I missing a real risk here?
