Watched a transporter back my car into a pole in Bakersfield, and the paperwork he handed me was the real problem
I was standing in the pickup lot off Rosedale Highway last Tuesday when the guy hauling my sedan clipped a light pole with the rear overhang and punched a dent in the trunk lid. He shrugged it off and said the bill of lading already had "pre-existing damage" checked for that panel, which was news to me since I had photos from 20 minutes earlier. How many of you actually make the driver write out the condition report by hand before he pulls away, or do you just trust the sheet they hand you?
Expecting the driver to hand write a condition report is a waste of time since he will just refuse or write whatever he wants anyway. Take your own photos with a timestamp and make him sign your sheet before he touches the car, because his paperwork protects him and not you.
