Paid a broker $150 upfront to ship my truck from Dallas, never saw a carrier
I found this broker online back in April and they wanted a $150 deposit before they would even list my pickup. I waited 9 days and no carrier ever called, then they stopped answering my emails completely. Turns out the deposit was non refundable and I had to pay a second broker $850 to actually get the truck moved to Denver. If a broker asks for money up front before a carrier is even assigned, that should be a red flag. Has anyone here actually gotten a deposit back from one of these companies?

Yep, that money is gone. Once they call it a non refundable deposit you're basically fighting a brick wall.
