Paid $210 for an enclosed trailer spot on a run from Phoenix to Denver and it saved my last nerve
I had to move my dad's old truck out to Denver back in March and got quoted anywhere from $650 to $1,100 for open transport. The broker kept pushing open because it was cheaper, but I went with an enclosed spot for $210 more and I am glad I did. The driver called me three times before pickup, sent photos of the truck loaded up, and had it in Denver in two days flat. Meanwhile a guy I know shipped his car open on the same route a week later and got a cracked windshield plus a nice new door ding from flying gravel. He spent $400 fixing what the cheap haul saved him, so the enclosed premium paid for itself twice over. I get that not everyone wants to spend extra on shipping, but if the car matters to you, that gap is real money well spent. Has anyone here actually gotten a claim covered after damage on an open haul, or is that just a fight you end up losing anyway?
