That one Tuesday where nothing went wrong on a 2007 Subaru Outback

I'm still not sure what happened. Had a customer bring in a 2007 Outback, said the check engine light was on and it was running rough. Usually with those old Subarus you figure it's gonna be a knock sensor or something in the exhaust, maybe a 2 hour job minimum. I plug in my scanner, pull a P0301 code for cylinder 1 misfire. Figured it's gonna be a coil pack or plug, but those boxer engines are tight back there. I move the coil pack to cylinder 2, clear the code, start it up, and bam, misfire moves with it. So I swap in a new coil pack I had on the shelf, test drive it around the block, and the light stays off and it's purring. Whole thing took like 20 minutes, customer was happy, and I actually got to leave early that afternoon. Has anyone else had a Subaru job that actually went smooth or was that just a fluke for me?

Had a 2010 Forester come in with a P0420 code that I was dreading, but turned out to be just a loose O2 sensor connector that I reseated in under five minutes. Honestly felt like the car gods were just cutting me a break that day.

P0420 usually needs a cat replacement but good for you.
