Showerthought: Why do so many shops skip the final wipe before delivery?
I run a paint crew, not a body shop, so maybe I'm missing something. But I picked up my truck from a shop in Boise last Friday after a bed repair and there was compound dust packed in every seam and around the badges. The paint itself looked fine, so it's not a quality issue on the spray. It's the last ten minutes of the job. I spent 20 years finishing cabinets, and the rule was always that the last 5 percent of the work is what the customer actually sees. I've seen the same thing at three shops in the past year, so it can't be a one-off. Do you guys have a set checklist for final delivery, or is it just whoever's free grabs a rag?
