My uncle told me to never use a heat gun on modern clear coat

He said the new stuff from the last 5 years can haze up if you get it over 140 degrees. I didn't listen on a 2021 Honda Civic job in Tampa and ended up with a cloudy spot on the rear quarter panel. Had to wet sand and re-clear the whole section. Anyone else run into this with newer paint systems?

Tampa humidity makes that heat haze a real risk.

Yeah the heat haze thing is real. I used to think it was just blurry air, no big deal. But last summer I saw a car ahead of me look like it was floating on a wavy road, it was so trippy. That humidity bends the light in a way that really messes with your eyes. You're right, it's a legit risk when you're driving.
