Last weekend at Hatfield-McCoy trails I saw something that changed how I pack my gear

I rode the Buffalo Mountain trail system in West Virginia last Saturday and noticed a guy on a Polaris with a homemade tool mount on his front rack. He had a PVC pipe setup that held his tow strap, tire repair kit, and even a small shovel without any clanking or loose straps. I asked him about it and he said it cost him about 12 bucks in parts from Lowe's. I went home and built something similar for my 2019 Honda 420 and it worked perfect on my ride today. Has anyone else tried making custom racks or mounts instead of buying the expensive store brands?

Ever try using old ammo cans for dry storage on your racks?

Yeah, they're decent but you gotta be careful with the rubber seals, they dry out over time and then you're not getting that dry storage you thought you had. I've had a few fail after a couple years in the garage heat.
