Hot take: I miss actually shifting gears on my old 300 Fourtrax instead of this push button stuff

My first quad was a 1992 Honda 300 Fourtrax I picked up for $900 out of a barn in Meridian, and I rode that thing for 8 seasons with a real foot shifter and a clutch you had to feel out. Now I'm on a newer machine with push button shifting and honestly it makes me lazy, but the thing that gets me is I can't blip the throttle and drop a gear coming into a muddy corner the way I used to. Rode with three guys at the trails near Emmett a couple weeks back and every one of them just tapped the button and let the computer do the thinking. I get why people like it, my knees aren't 25 anymore either, but there's something about knowing your machine by sound and feel that's getting lost. Half the newer riders I talk to have never stalled a quad in their life, which sounds nice but also means they don't know what to do when it happens. Am I the only one who actually misses the clutch, or have the rest of you made peace with the buttons?
