My HVAC guy said don't touch the attic unit, but I did it anyway and here is what happened
Three summers back my attic air handler started sweating so bad the pan overflowed every other day, and the guy I use told me to just leave it alone because "they all do that in Georgia." I got tired of shop vac-ing water at 6am before work, so I wrapped the suction line with new insulation from the hardware store on Roswell Road and sealed the plenum seams with mastic for about $40 total. The sweating quit within two days, and my power bill for July came in $58 lower than the same month the year before. Now he tells people I "got lucky," but I think he just didn't want to crawl up there. Has anyone else had a tech wave off a fix that turned out to be simple?
