I think the obsession with perfect 'Hubble-like' shots is missing the point

Last week, I spent three nights trying to get a clean shot of the Orion Nebula with my old DSLR and a basic tracker, and the noise was terrible (you know, like a grainy mess). But seeing that fuzzy, imperfect blob I took myself felt more real than any polished image I've ever downloaded. Does anyone else get more from their own messy attempts than from the flawless pictures online?

Wait, hold on. I get what you're saying, but I'm totally the opposite. Those perfect Hubble shots are what got me into this in the first place. Seeing what's actually out there, all that crazy detail and color, it blows my mind. My own noisy pictures just make me want to try harder to get closer to that. The messy blob is cool for a minute, but then I just see everything I missed.

Honestly, you nailed it. I had the same thing happen with my shot of Andromeda last fall. It was basically a gray smudge with some green noise, and my tracking was off. But just knowing I pointed my gear at it and caught that light myself, it's a totally different feeling. Tbh, I barely even look at those perfect processed images anymore because they feel like someone else's homework. That connection to the actual process, even when it's messy, is the whole point for me.
