Rant: My friend swore reverse psychology works on cats

So my buddy Kyle told me to tell my cat not to sit on the laptop. He said cats are rebels. I tried it for 3 days straight. I'd say 'No, don't sit here, it's for humans only.' The cat ignored me completely. She just stared at me like I was dumb. Then Kyle came over and saw the whole thing. He admitted he was just messing with me. Has anyone actually gotten reverse psychology to work on their cat or am I being pranked?

Wait, Kyle actually admitted it was a prank? That's rough, man. I tried telling my cat to stay off the kitchen counter once, and she just knocked a coffee mug off the edge to prove a point. I think cats understand English PERFECTLY, they just don't care what we say. Honestly, you got off easy. At least your cat just stared at you instead of breaking something valuable.

Dude, that reminds me of my buddy Mark's cat. That thing is pure evil. One time he locked his cat in the bathroom while he had friends over, just so the cat wouldn't knock stuff off his coffee table. The cat figured out how to turn the bathroom faucet on, just enough to get a steady drip going, and then sat in the hall watching Mark run around trying to find the leak. It took him twenty minutes to realize the cat had done it on purpose. I swear, they're smarter than we give them credit for, they just use their powers for chaos.
