I washed my cast iron with soap for a year and it made zero difference
Everyone online swears soap will kill your seasoning, so I tested it. For 12 months I scrubbed my 10 inch Lodge with Dawn and a normal sponge after every meal, and the pan looks the same as the day I got it. The seasoning is a polymerized layer of oil, it's not going to dissolve from a little dish soap. What actually hurt my pan was leaving it wet on the rack overnight, that gave me a rust spot I had to sand off. So if soap isn't the problem, what actually wrecked your cast iron? I want to hear the real stories.
