I thought $3 bills at a coin shop in Tulsa were a scam, then a guy let me watch a 1963 red seal get paper tested
My grandpa left me a $3 bill when he passed and I always figured it was a fake some bar gave him back. Last month a dealer at a shop on 11th in Tulsa grabbed a paper scale, tested the rag content, and showed me the red seal was real, plus the serial came back clean on a lookup site for $3 a pop. Now I keep a loupe on my keychain at estate sales, but only after I compare the paper feel to a known note first, so what do you all check first on old paper money, the seal or the serial?
