Guy at a rest stop outside Amarillo taught me to bottle feed baby bats, and I've been doing it 3 years now
I rehab bats, mostly the little brown kind, and my setup is just a plastic tub with a heating pad and a stack of washcloths. A guy at a Texas rest stop saw my cooler and asked what was in it, then showed me his trick of using a trimmed makeup sponge instead of a syringe nipple. The sponge holds the milk replacer better and the pups don't inhale it, which was killing about 1 in 4 of mine before. It took me 2 full seasons to stop losing them and now I barely lose any. Anyone else doing small mammal rehab got a feeding trick that sounds dumb but works?
