My $30 thrift store scanner beat the $400 app I pay for monthly
Everyone keeps saying you need a paid document app to search old town records, but a $30 Canon CanoScan I got at a Goodwill in Dayton found my grandpa's property line deed in 4 minutes flat. The free software that came with it let me search the scans by keyword, which the big app kept choking on because the pages were too blurry. Maybe I got lucky with the model, but I'm starting to think the paid stuff is just selling convenience. What's the one piece of cheap old gear that actually searches better than the apps for you?
