Got chased out of the Ballston farmers market by a wasp and now I do all my produce shopping at 8am
So this happened about 3 weeks ago at the Ballston farmers market on a Saturday. I was at the tomato stand, that one guy with the heirlooms near the corner, and I reached for a green one and felt something on my hand. Wasp. I yelped, knocked over a whole crate, and basically ran to the other end of the market. The vendor was cool about it and didn't charge me but I was so embarrassed I just left.
Anyway after that I started going right when they open at 8 instead of around 10 or 11. Completely different scene. No crowds, vendors actually have time to talk, and I swear the good tomatoes aren't picked over yet. Plus way fewer bugs since it's cooler. I spent $22 this past Saturday and got more than I used to get for $40 at the busy time.
Has anyone else figured out a better time or spot to hit up the Arlington markets? Curious if the Courthouse one is any different.
