Am I the only one who switched from the W&OD Trail to the Custis for my morning ride and noticed the hills hit different? | Arlington Va Recommendations

Rode the W&OD from Vienna for 2 years, then tried the Custis from East Falls Church last week and the steady grade near the Rosslyn end had me in a lower gear the whole way, so now I'm wondering if anyone else finds the Custis harder despite it looking flatter on the map.
