For 20 years my uncle walked past a pile of what he called "pretty rocks" in his pasture near Dodge City, Kansas. Last spring a grad student from KU knocked on his door and pulled 14 points out of that same pile in one afternoon, some dating back 8,000 years. Turns out my uncle's "just rocks" line was the worst archaeological call in the family. Has anyone else had a relative sitting on a site for years without knowing it?
