That $600 stump grinder I bought on Facebook Marketplace was a total scam

Guy claimed it ran fine and showed me a video of it spinning. Got it home to my yard in Portland and the engine seized after 15 minutes. Tore it apart and found the oil was basically sludge mixed with metal shavings. Anyone else get burned buying used equipment from a random seller?

Oh man, that oil story gave me flashbacks to the time I bought a "low hour" log splitter that had clearly been run on used fry oil (or so I guessed from the smell). The video trick always gets you, right? They film it idling for 30 seconds and you think you're a genius for scoring a deal, but really you just bought someone else's junk pile with a fresh coat of lies.

Relax, it's just a log splitter - not a life sentence.
