Root flare flare-up: buried trees I reclaimed 2 years ago are now declining
I uncovered root flares on 12 maples in a Madison parking lot back in 2022, removing 4-6 inches of fill each. Two years later, 3 of those trees show thinning canopies while the ones I left buried look fine. Anyone else see a delayed negative response after exposing flares, or did I maybe cut too many small roots in the process?
