A homeowner's comment about my pruning cuts changed how I use a handsaw
Last spring I was doing a big oak reduction in Tacoma and the owner came out and said my cuts looked like I was in a hurry. I thought I was being clean, but she pointed out the bark tearing on the underside of a few branches. I started going slower, making an undercut first on anything over 2 inches, even with a handsaw. It adds maybe 10 minutes per tree but the wounds heal way better and I haven't had one complaint since. Has anyone else had a client give feedback that actually improved their technique, even if it stung a bit?
