PSA: I chose to keep fixing old Maytag washers instead of switching to new models, and it's been a solid call.
After 15 years, I still make more money and get fewer callbacks on those old belt-drive units from the '90s than on any new machine with a circuit board, so what's the best old model you still see regularly in the field?

Funny enough, I was all in on the new tech for a while. Thought those old machines were just dinosaurs. Then I kept getting called back to the same houses for new washers with sensor issues or error codes. Meanwhile, the old Maytag Neptune I fixed five years ago for a client is still going strong with just the occasional belt or lid switch. Makes you see the value in simple mechanics.

Totally get what you're saying, @danielgonzalez. It feels like everything is getting more complicated but not actually better. My car has a screen that freezes, but the old manual windows in my first truck never failed. Seems like we traded things that just work for stuff that needs constant updates and has more ways to break. When did simple and reliable become such a rare thing to find?
