Lost $150 on a dryer repair because I skipped the simple stuff first

So I had a dryer that wasn't heating up... customer called me out, I spent an hour checking the thermal fuse, heating element, cycling thermostat. Replaced the whole heating assembly for $150 in parts and labor. Turned it on, still no heat. Felt like a total idiot when I finally checked the breaker... tripped the whole time. Reset it and it worked fine. Anyone else ever bypass the obvious and pay for it?

$150 is rough but at least you didn't replace the whole dryer. A tripped breaker is pretty easy to miss when you're focused on parts.

Had a buddy who spent three hours diagnosing a problem that was just the plug not pushed in all the way.
