Hot take: I stopped using torque specs on dryer drum screws years ago
Ngl, I used to follow every torque spec in the manual like it was law. But after about 5 years in the field, I realized I was stripping more screws than saving them. Now I just tighten by feel on things like Samsung and LG dryer drums. Last week I did a repair in Phoenix where the old tech had snapped a bolt clean off because he torqued it too hard. Has anyone else just ditched the torque wrench for small appliance screws and never looked back?

A snapped bolt in Phoenix is wild, I thought heat made metal more flexible not brittle.

Holy crap, a snapped bolt because he torqued it too hard in that desert heat? That's just bad luck or the wrong tool for the job, I swear I've seen more cracked plastic than snapped bolts in AZ. I never ditch the torque specs completely but I sure as heck don't crank them down like a gorilla.
