Appreciation post: I used to test every dryer thermal fuse with a meter, but a call last week changed my mind.

Got a job in Tempe for a dryer that wouldn't heat, and my old Fluke 87V showed the fuse was fine, so I spent an hour checking other parts. The real problem was a cracked fuse body that only opened under full heat load, something a simple visual check would have caught in two minutes. How many of you have been burned by trusting a meter reading over your own eyes on these?

Yeah, always give those fuses a quick look first.

Totally agree with @sanchez.dylan on checking fuses first. I had a weird flickering light in my kitchen last month, and I almost called an electrician. Spent like twenty minutes just staring at the fixture, lmao. Then I remembered to check the fuse box, and sure enough, one was just a little loose. Tightened it up and the problem was gone. Saved me a huge hassle and probably a couple hundred bucks.

Ever think @sanchez.dylan's quick look saves more than just time?
