Picked the sub over the dub for Frieren and now my friend won't stop giving me grief
So my buddy and I started Frieren: Beyond Journey's End last week, and we hit a wall right away. He only watches dubs, says subs make him miss the action because he's reading the whole time. I told him subs are just better for catching the real emotion in the voice acting, especially for a show like this where so much of it is quiet moments. We argued for like 20 minutes over text and I finally said fine, I'll do the sub and you do the dub, then we'll compare notes after episode 10. Well I finished episode 10 last night and the sub is incredible, the voice work on Frieren is so understated it kills me. He texted me this morning and said the dub version of Stark sounds way too old, so now he's annoyed that he picked wrong. I feel a little smug but also kind of bad, since now he's stuck rewatching the first 10 episodes. Do you all stick with one or do you mix it up depending on the show?
