Overheard someone at a con saying they skip episodes to save time

I was waiting in line for a panel at Anime Expo last weekend and this guy behind me was telling his friend he skips every filler arc and even some season finales if they look boring. He said he finished Naruto in like 3 weeks by doing that. It got me thinking about how we all watch anime different, but skipping whole episodes just to say you finished something feels like missing the point. Has anyone else run into people who treat anime like a checklist instead of enjoying the ride?

Wait what he skipped season finales too? Like the big payoff episodes that are supposed to be hype? That's wild to me, those are usually some of the best parts.

Jumped into a convo about this same thing with my buddy last month. He does the exact same thing @lily574, skips filler and even some ending arcs on purpose to "get through" a show faster. Told him that kind of killed the pacing for me but hey, worked for him since he was happy with it.
