My buddy in 2011 swore subs were dead and I almost believed him until I watched 40 episodes of One Piece in one weekend
Back in high school everyone kept saying subs were the only real way to watch anime and dubs were trash, so I just went along with it for a few years. Then last month my cousin sat me down with the English dub of Frieren and honestly I could not tell the difference in quality half the time. I still read subs out of habit, but now I feel kind of silly for judging people who pick dubs, especially folks who just want to watch while doing dishes. Tbh it made me realize the sub vs dub war was mostly people repeating what they heard online. Has anyone else flipped sides on this, or am I just late to the party?
