Can we talk about how Durarara actually holds up on a rewatch
I was super skeptical when my friend told me Durarara was still good 10 years later because I remembered it being confusing and slow. Started a rewatch last month and the way all those side stories connect in the first 12 episodes is honestly way tighter than I gave it credit for. Has anyone else gone back to a show they wrote off and completely changed their mind?

Oh man, you hit on something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I had a similar experience with a show called Baccano, which is from the same writer actually. First time through I was so lost I gave up after like four episodes. Then a couple years back I gave it another shot and it clicked hard. All those seemingly random characters and conversations, they build up to something way bigger. With Durarara specifically, the second time through you catch all the little visual clues and throwaway lines that mean nothing until you know the whole picture. It's like the show trusts you enough to not spell everything out right away, which is rare these days. Your mileage may vary but I'd say if you found it confusing before it might be worth revisiting.

Dude, that's exactly how I felt with Baccano too! I remember trying to keep track of all those intersecting stories and just giving up halfway through. When I finally watched Durarara all the way through, I started noticing how the camera would linger on little things like a sign or a random person in the background, and it all meant something later. @juliam40 you gotta love a show that doesn't treat you like you're dumb... it really pays off if you stick with it.
