Bought a $16 bootleg Evangelion box set off eBay in 2019, and now I can't watch the show legally
I grabbed the whole series on 3 discs from a seller in San Diego for $16 because the real sets were going for $200. The subs were garbage and episode 24 was just the audio over a still frame of Misato for the last 4 minutes. I reported the seller and got my money back, but then eBay flagged my account and I couldn't buy anime for 6 weeks. To this day I still check fan subs before official releases because of that mess. Did anyone else get burned on bootleg discs back in the day, or am I the only one who learned the hard way?
