Unpopular opinion: that dusty Gateway 2000 in my dad's garage is worth more as a doorstop than a retro gaming rig
My cousin who fixes old PCs for a living in Akron said the caps on those 90s boards leak way before the CPU ever dies, so half the 'working' towers on eBay are ticking time bombs. He talked me out of restoring mine and now I'm wondering how many of you have pulled a 25 year old machine out of a closet only to find it booted once and never again?

Recapping those boards is cheap if you can solder, and it takes an afternoon. Problem is people power them on after 20 years of sitting and the caps pop right there.
