Still using a flip phone in 2024 and I don't care what anyone thinks
Got tired of staring at a screen all day back in 2018 so I grabbed a used LG Exalt from a pawn shop for $40. No apps, no notifications, just calls and texts. People look at me weird when I flip it open at a bar but my battery lasts 5 days. Anyone else ditch their smartphone and go back to something simpler?

Funny you mention pawn shops, that's where I found my old Samsung rugby that I swear survived being run over by a truck. Still miss that brick of a phone sometimes.

Have you ever noticed how phones from back then just had a different kind of toughness to them? It's like they were built to be tools, not fashion statements. My old LG flip phone fell out of my pocket while I was riding my bike and it just got a scratch. These days I see people at the bus stop with their whole phone cracked and taped up, but they just keep using them anyway. Makes me wonder if we're actually more attached to the idea of having a tough phone than we are to the actual features. There's something about that old reliable feeling that new phones can't really match.
