My kid asked why I still burn CDs for the car, and I didn't have a good answer until I counted them
My daughter saw me grab a spindle of blank discs off the shelf in the garage and asked why I don't just use my phone like a normal person. I checked the glovebox and there were 47 burned CDs in there, some going back to 2008, and every one still plays fine in the factory stereo of my 04 Civic. It hit me that the phone needs a cable, a mount, and 3 taps just to start a song, while the disc just goes in and stays where I left it. The car has a tape deck too and I found a cassette adapter in a drawer that still works after 15 years. Nobody makes these anymore and the ones on eBay want $30 for a used one, which feels backwards. What old media are you still running because the new way is honestly more work?

Ha, I love this but I gotta push back on one thing. Those cassette adapters are still being made, you can get a new one on Amazon for like 8 bucks, it's not a dead format at all. The used ones on eBay asking 30 are just people hoping nobody checks. I ran one in my old truck for years until the tape deck finally ate it. The CD thing I totally get though, 47 discs that all still work is a better track record than any phone I've ever owned.
